My name is Pauline Richards, and I would like to welcome to the Total Embellishment Newsletter (T.E.N.) Web site!  I hope it provides inspiration and education for sewing and embellishment enthusiasts.  I've published T.E.N. for 12 years, and during that time my focus has remained the same: to provide sewers with designs, information and techniques that can be duplicated on a conventional zigzag sewing machine.  Although computerized embroidery is growing in popularity, it has not been the focus of T. E. N. although new embroidery related products have been spotlighted especially when they can be used to simplify the embellishment process.
Through the years I've spent countless hours writing, editing, designing, sewing and planning each issue.  I've enjoyed the process, learned more than you can imagine about desktop publishing, printing, public relations, data bases, Web design, PDF documents and the needs and interests of many of you, my faithful readers. Teaching trips have given me the opportunity to meet you, see and admire your work and workmanship and enjoy your company and friendship. You've been patient as an occasional issue has been a bit late because I've been busy helping with wedding preparations or savoring the blessing of welcoming a new grandchild.  Now it's time to step aside and introduce you to Total Embellishment Newsletter's new Publisher, Melissa Brown from Portland, OR.  Melissa is not only a talented fabric artist, she is an excellent journalist and publisher of Fitting it All Together (F. I. A.), a newletter focusing on what else, garment fitting. I'll be advising Melissa and contributing in many ways during the transition, so please don't feel that I'm deserting you, I'm actually taking a back seat so that I can spend more time with the family I cherish.  Remember, you can always reach me at stchsafe@msn.com, so please keep in touch and yes, I will still be teaching at selected ASG events and seminars around the country so please read my bio below if you would like me to visit your group.

A note from Melissa:

Total Embellishment Newsletter has held a special place in my heart and imagination since I first discovered it many years ago. It has never failed to delight me with its level of enthusiasm and command of skills in designing, sewing and writing.  In fact, I've been so inspired that I decided to start my own newsletter, Fitting It Altogether . While T. E. N. focuses on embellishments, F. I. A. is about "Fit, fashion, flattery and fun for apparel sewers:. I encourage the use of patternmaking to save sew-ers time fitting, but still get excellent, wearable results and allow them to focus more time on their favorite parts of sewing.  Now T. E. N. and Pauline may not have inspired your, but I'm sure they have provided you with much inspiration, information and pleasure over the years.  That's a mix that I think we can agree should not be changed or tampered with.  I want to assure you that I'm committed to continuing to publish T. E. N. with the same high-quality format, style and standards Pauline established as publisher and that we all appreciate.
