Barbara Weiland, Editor of Sewing Savvy, attended my seminar at the American Sewing Guild annual convention in August, 2006 and had this to say. "The best class I took was from Pauline Richards -- I learned a lot about sewing notions that I can put to good use. If you ever have the opportunity to take one of Pauline's classes, do so. She is an excellent and fun teacher!"

Lecture Classes 1 1/2 hours each

Sweater Smarts

Your favorite sweater can take on new life as a one-of-a-kind jacket, throw or Christmas stocking if you know how to successfully combine sweater knits and woven fabrics. Enjoy a trunk show as you learn transformation techniques and collect ideas.

From Drab to Fab

Need to jazz up an unworn garment you've had in your closet for a while?  Do you have a couldn't-resist sale item that doesn't look nearly as good now as it did on the rack? Enjoy a trunk show as you learn how to add piaazaa and hide flaws using embellishments, stencils, appliques, machine embroidery and accent fabrics to create a NEW look.

Learn to Sew Smarter Not Harder

Join Pauline Richards as she shares her favorite ways to simplify sewing while creating more professional looking projects. Pockets, sleeves, collars, cuffs, zippers and hems will no longer mystify or challenge you. Samples will inspire and answer your questions.

Embellishment Explosion

Pauline will share a trunk show of wonderful embellished wearables. This is the time  to take notes and bring your camera so you'll be ready to try some of these techniques on your next project.

Sewing in the 21st Century

Sit back and enjoy learning about the newest notion to simplify and speed your sewing. You'll also see the Oliso iron with legs and the Janome Mini sewing machine, a 5 lb.,1/2 size machine to pack for class. Learn which notions to use and which ones to avoid and why.

Needle Felting by Hand or Machine

Needle felting is the hotest new embellishment technique and Pauline has just finished Needle Felting by Hand or Machine with Linda Griepentrog (available Spring 2007, from Krause Publications). You'll be treated to a trunk show of projects from the book and see how much you can do with hand felting. Pauline will also bring one of the new felting machines for you to try.

All Day Workshops

Ultrasuede Piping Binding and Trim

This workshop focuses on the use of Ultrasuede for piping, binding, trim and as an embellishment. It also includes a trunk show of garments that illustrate the techniques covered in the class.

Needle Felting by Hand or Machine

Learn the art of needle felting by hand and machine. Enjoy a truck show of projects from Pauline's book and experiment with various fibers while you practice needle felting. You'll be able to experiment with a felting machine and you'll complete the needle felting on a bag during the class.

My Favorite Vest

Students will each receive a copy of Pauline's My Favorite Vest pattern. Pauline will bring muslins and custom fit a vest for each student. She will share her binding, embellishment and finishing techniques and students will then make, embellish and bind their individual vests.  Pauline will bring a trunk show of finished vests for inspiration.
