Pauline's Needle Felted Vest
Pauline's  "My Favorite Vest" pattern was used for this vest. Guidelines were drawn on the fabric with tailor's chalk and yarn was needlefelted to the base fabric to create the design.
My Favorite Jacket
This jacket was made by strip piecing five different silk fabrics. The collar was woven from fabrics, ribbons and yarns.  Complete instructions are found in the Winter 2003 issue of T.E.N.and Sewing Savvy, Fall 07.
Hong Kong Jacket
This unlined jacket features UltraSuede binding and appliqued shapes similar to Chinese letters. The black sleeves make this a particular striking garment. .
This handbag features felted shapes and hand stitching.  The fabric rectangles were positioned on the fabric's wrong side, felted or pushed to the front and then yarn was hand stitched around the shapes. Felting from the back to the front creates muted rather than clear colors. The bag will be featured in Sewing With Style, a new book from DRG Publishing.
This needle felted flower is on a white wool vest.
This jacket is made from silk tie fabrics. It was strip pieced and paper pieced.  Computerized embroidery was also added.
This jacket back features a bound diagonal flap, buttons and fused UltraSuede strips.
Wool Plaid was cut in wedges and pieced to create this design. UltraSuede strips cover the seams and bind the jacket.
Jacket Back
The geometric shapes on this bag were are also felted. Working with the fabric wrong side up, I used 1/2-inch wide strips of blue painters to form the design. Roving was felted in the marked sections and thoroughly worked into the base fabric with felting needles. The fabric's right side becomes the right side of the bag with much of the roving pushed all the way through to create the colorful design. See the photos below.
Roving was placed on this, the wrong side.
This is the right side of the finished bag shown above.
Wingdings for You was featured in the Summer 08 issue. The issue included instructions for making and using freezer paper stencils. The designs were painted onto the fabric and sequins were added to unify the design.
Circle Magic, Design # 103, was featured in the Summer 08 issue.  Instructions for making mini satin stitched circles on any zigzag machine are included in the issue.  A variety of buttons complete the design.
